As I mentioned in my post Back in Action, I have been very behind in everything related to this blog and honestly my life as well. My intent with this blog post is to outline my goals and intentions for the remainder of the year. I’ve said it time and time again, the importance of writing down your goals. If you don’t write down your goals, then your goals are just wishes. So, here is where my goals currently stand:
1. Get some permanency
As of today, I’m officially on my terminal leave as I transition out of the military. I’ve been job hunting for 2 1/2 months so far and my belief is that the hiring managers were waiting for me to officially be done with my military service and have a U.S. number. (Hopefully). I continue to job hunt in all locations throughout the U.S. and overseas until I can finally get something that’s going to pay well.
In the meantime, I’m going to live with family since I do not have a permanent home. It’s obviously a stressful time for my family and myself, but it’s a necessary step.
2. Improvement with my blog
I’ve gone back and forth with the frequency of my blog, but the plan is 1-2 posts per week. That means one motivational blog post and one inspirational blog post. The motivational post is a concept or a tool specifically written to be focused on to live your life more positively or fulfilled. The inspirational post is my journey attacking my goals and my future endeavors.
Outside of consistency, there are a handful of improvements I want to make such as the technical side of things and setting up my emailing delivery.
3. Improvement on videos
There’s no denying I lack self-confidence to create videos on myself and post them on social media. It’s a limiting belief that I have and I’m working through that. As time continues, I’ll be gaining that confidence to post more videos, pictures, audio etc. on here and social media. I have plenty of ideas, it just comes down to removing that limiting belief.
4. 2000 followers on Instagram
Outside of this blog, my main platform to increase my audience is Instagram. That has to be established in order for me to focus my efforts on improving my social media and my brand. Once I gain some consistency on Instagram, I’ll double down and begin working on TikTok as the next platform to help me add value to other people. If I get to 2,500 followers on Instagram by Christmas, I will begin doing giveaways.
5. Provide life coaching services
My deadline for having my situation set up to the point of providing services is January 1st. This relies heavily on the accomplishment of goal 1. This has been something I’ve always wanted to do and is slowly coming to fruition. I’ve done a lot of research and soul searcher on the best way to provide this service and help people improve their productivity and foster a positive mindset. I’m excited on the progress that I’ve made and I’m excited to share that with you all.
6. Read 1 book per month
This goal is always a goal of mine. Every goal related post I’ve written has discussed this in great detail. As I said in my last post, Invest in Yourself, it’s vital to learn something every single day. If you don’t learn something new each day, then you’ve wasted your day. This consistency is something that leads to greater fulfillment. I’ve made it my routine these past few weeks to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per day. The time I set aside is right before bedtime, that way the last thing I do before I sleep is learn something new and it helps me sleep better.
Personally, I enjoy nonfiction over fiction because of my desire to learn. I want to be the best and in order to be the best, I have to learn from the best. I’m currently reading Crushing It! by Gary Vaynerchuk, aka Gary Vee. What book are you currently reading?
7. Maintain good health
This is so far down my list right now, only because my priorities are in the above. This one, for me at least, takes significant effort. If I don’t have any permanency, then this goal slides way down my priority list. That’s also why this is a very vague goal. I just want to maintain a sense of normal routine when it comes to nutrition and not living a sedentary lifestyle. The last week and a half has been great because I have a gym I can go to for free, but now that I’m transitioning out of the military, that benefit goes away.
For a few months now, I have been tossing around the idea of doing a podcast. I’ve considered doing it as a Transformation Tuesday or a Friday podcast that replaces my previous elevation posts. I am slowly falling in love with this different avenue of adding value to a broader audience. The reason it falls into the “honorable mention” category is for a handful of different reasons. The biggest reason, again, being goal 1. I have to have permanency to even consider doing a podcast. On top of that, with the lack of consistency with my blog and low followers and engagement, is the juice worth the squeeze? If I can’t tackle the goals above, then this idea can’t even be considered.
Now that I’ve put my goals and plans out there, what are yours? What are the 3 priorities that you have for the remainder of 2021? What’s preventing you from accomplishing these goals? What excuses are you making, and be honest?
