Prepare Yourself!

Something pretty remarkable happened to me on Friday and it made me want to talk about it all day and write about it.  Progress is such an amazing euphoria.  Positivity and negativity are both contagious; which one do you want to spread?  I went to the office of my apartment complex to discuss some maintenance issues in my home.  As I was discussing these concerns with the leasing agent, the lead manager came out and asked me how I was doing.  I gave her the same response I give everyone who asks: I said “outstanding.”  She stopped dead in her tracks and looked at me.  She said with a smile on her face, “we need more positivity like that around here.”  I told her I had my business cards posted in the mail room and she asked me why I didn’t have them in the main office.  So, I went and brought some more business cards and they offered to put them in the move-in packets so more people would be able to see the cards.  They also mentioned that I could do a community event where I could talk and hand out cards as well.

Patience is a virtue, yet it is important to go out and win each day of your life.  Here is an unexpected surprise that helps lead me in the direction I am trying to go and these situations can happen to anyone who continues to work on themselves and their craft.  Prepare yourself for that opportunity to come about because you never know what could happen.  Carpe Diem.  An opportunity may only come once and if you are not prepared for it, then you will slowly let your dream fade.  Whatever point you are trying to get to in your life, you have to be all in.  You have to beat up on your craft and you have to have the hunger, drive and will to succeed.  You need to want it more then the person next to you.

Today, write down your goals and where you are with those goals.  Then list what you could be doing better to help prepare yourself for success.  Improvement needs to happen each and every day.

Better yet, write down your goals in the comment section below and let’s discuss it together.  What’s your excuse?
