If you want to be successful in life, you must add value to your life.  This can be in the form of knowledge, experience or skillset.  There are different ways to add this value to your life.  That can be going to college or continuing your educational journey.  You can add value by doing extra curricular activities or joining a club while you’re in high school or college. You can add value by doing community service and giving back to others.  There is not one way to be successful and there is not only one way to succeed in your dreams.  You must continue to learn something new every day, or you are wasting your day.

To be successful, you must add value

Let’s take the idea that you want to own your own business one day.  How do you constantly add value to yourself in order to get there?  You can go to college and get a business degree.  You can attend webinars or seminars to continue learning.  You can go out and interview other successful entrepreneurs and hear what they learned from their experiences.  But what exactly should you be learning about business in order to open your own business?  Everything!  That may seem like a lot, but imagine how much you will know if you learn things in every category.  How would you market your business?  How will you complete your bookkeeping?  What would be your motto, your logo, your future business plan?  There are many things that you can be learning each and every day and you can and should be adding value to yourself every single day, so stop wasting your days.  No matter how old you are, you are never too old or too young to improve.  Continue the grind, or start the grind, but get on the path toward greatness.  The hardest step is the first one.

We become who we surround ourselves with, so who are you surrounding yourself with?  How are you adding value to others?  How are you adding value to those around you of your sphere of influence?  If you continue to grow, but you don’t share that growth, then your circle gets downgraded.  It’s like when you upgrade your phone or computer to the newest updates and some of your applications stop working because they weren’t prepared to be working on a higher platform.  Keep your circle and your network strong.  You should always be looking to add value, not just to yourself, but to others as well.  In the example above, there is so much to learn, that you may need others to help you out.  They may have significant strengths in marketing, where you are lacking, but you’re really good at writing a business proposal.  Add value to each other and both of you will become successful.

What fun is it to know so much information while others don’t?  Do you learn it for bragging rights, or do you want to do something with that knowledge and experience?  Sharing and teaching also helps you understand and reinforce your knowledge and skillset.  Add value to others.

maximum time

I have not mentioned my personal philosophy in awhile now, but I need to bring it up again.  Maximize your time and develop your skill set.  Stop wasting your time playing on your phone and accomplish something.  Be proud of who you are because you continue to push yourself. Grow and beat up that path toward success.  Continue adding value to yourself.

In my 2020 goals, I said my #1 goal is to become an exceptional presenter.  In order for me to achieve this goal, I have to work on presenting.  So, I am improving my presentation and instructing skills by adding value to others through consistent teaching.  The schedule I made for March will have be instructing for a minimum of 9 hours, all before the workday starts.  That’s not including all the instructing I do at work.
